Happy Tuesday all!
In conclusion to last night’s post, I read about a very effective way to kick unwanted habits!!
First of all, our consistent “bad habits” have a scientific twist to them… We all have a chemical called dopamine in our brain, which gets us hooked on everything.. We experience something that gives us pleasure like eating a piece of cake, some of that dopamine “makes a beeline to a region of your brain where memories are formed.” Now that memory is stored. Every time you are offered a piece of cake, you know it’s not good for you but your brain sends a signal saying, Eat it!!! Dopamine is the brain’s reward system.
So- why don’t we try to create positive habits and have a reward system in place to help you celebrate your achievements. A perfect way is to “celebrate your success by treating yourself to something you enjoy that doesn’t contradict your resolution.”
A new outfit, a new hairstyle, getting a manicure/pedicure, going to a concert, getting a new book to read.
Who doesn’t like treating themselves, especially if we generate positive habits towards others and for ourselves!
I hope everyone had a good start to their week! I had a busy day, but I am thankful I got lots done! I do have this horrible habit that I get super anxious when I have things I want to accomplish in a day- I tend to take it out in those around me as well.. Not a good thing!!
I read a new segment in my personal development book tonight that is a perfect message that I hope to digest and it may help some of you that are struggling with unwanted habits..
The key to changing habits is to make small changes day by day and hold yourself accountable.. Its called “Layer in change”
“The key is to evaluate which routine is the right prompt for your small, simple behavior. Maybe you need to drink more water everyday, but it’s not a habit for you yet. Try drinking water to meals and snacks. Every time you eat, have a tall glass of water. Eating is your prompt to drink more water. Prompts will be different for everyone, but the formula for your new behavior should complete the following sentence: When I (routine), I will (tiny behavior change). So layer in small changes everyday. Tie them to prompts. Little by little, as you do these things, you will start seeing progress. Once you experience a few small wins, taking bigger steps becomes easier.”
Have a great week!
Hope everyone had a beautiful Sunday- whether it was a day to just relax, a day to catch up on house work, or a day to spend with friends and family…
As long as it was a day spent the way you wanted to!!!
I took today as a catch up day since I hosted Thanksgiving and also had other holiday Festivities to over the weekend!
I also decorated my house for Christmas! My boys are super excited to see Max our elf on the shelf show up tomorrow morning!!
So tonight I leave you with a photo of my finished Christmas tree 🎄 and this quote from my current book I’m reading (Day 12)….
“The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith” 💞
Happy Saturday! Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! I had a fun time going into town with my family/friends and seeing Santa come for our annual tree lighting!
Back home and just finished my next segment- Day 11
FIFO stands for “figure it the f@&$ Out”
We need to figure out what we want to do in life and where we want to be. No one can do this for us!!
Here’s a fun challenge, just to see if we really are where we should be….
✨ Go back to school for 60 Days, what would you study??
✨ Or if not the classroom, what field would you be interested in??
It’s amazing seeing what would be different after what you know now about ourselves!!
I have to say- tonight with my family watching the tree lighting in town was exactly where I should be!! ❤️
Hope everyone who celebrated had a beautiful Thanksgiving yesterday!! Now- time to prepare for Christmas!!! Today is when my family puts up our Christmas tree and gets our home looking the holiday spirit! 🎅🏼🎄☃️
I’m not one to run out to the stores and trudge through huge crowds to get the best deal!! I will do some shopping on line this evening and then hit my laptop Monday to finish off the rest of my gift shopping!
Now some time to finally relax….
Enjoy your weekend!
Today was a day of preparation for tomorrow’s amazing feast! I am hosting family for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. So, growing up in an all Italian family- that means, lots of food and all made by “scratch” (homemade)!!
So- today mom came to my house and walked me through each dish that I will be serving tomorrow!
What am I thankful for?? MY MOM
Without her- there would be no tradition to carry on and I wouldn’t have a clue how to cook all this delicious food!
Have a restful night!
Hope everyone had a fantastic day! One more day until Holiday Time! Lots of good food, family, & friends having a peaceful day showing “Thanks”.
My one advice to you comes from this new segment I read tonight…. Be Authentic
“Being authentic is knowing who you are and confidently expressing this truth to others. It means that your thoughts, actions, words, and deeds are aligned with your underlying character. Becoming authentic- being true to yourself- is one of the most powerful things you can do for your mind, body, and spirit. I believe that at any point in time, you can do anything you want to do or become anything you want to be.” Christmas Abbott
Be true to yourself! 🙌🏼
Happy Monday all!!
I hope you set the tone for this week and are off to a good start!! 😊
Just finished reading my next segment and what I read is so fitting for Monday!!
Day 8: Fuel Yourself For Success
This segment is about “fueling” yourself mentally, physically, & spiritually.
Fuel your mind with positivity! “You can’t think out of the box if you’re sitting in the box.”
Fuel your body with nutritious and clean foods! “Choose your foods wisely, because having a nutritious diet is the foundation of great health and mental fitness.”
Fuel your spirit. Explore a form a spirituality that speaks to you- a religion, a practice like yoga, spiritual readings.. Another great way is by helping others!! “Performing acts of kindness makes you feel good, increases your happiness, improves your immune system, and forges connectedness to higher things”
✨Be mindful of your thoughts & actions
Today was a day of catching up- whether it be laundry, house work, business building… I was on track all day and kept moving until I was done!! 💪🏼
I leave you with my Day 7 reading.. Hope this motivates you to set the tone for the coming week…..
“What separates those who fail from those who achieve greatness is the reluctance to accept that event as failure. I believe that if you continue to do what you know you can, eventually, on a long enough timeline, you will achieve what you once thought was impossible. Most people fail because they give up on their goals. Giving up in my life is simply not an option, ever. Your mental state controls the rest of your being. It’s your hard drive for life.” Christmas Abbott
Have an awesome week!
